For what it’s worth, I think Rainbow Dash and Soarin’ would have a lot of drama in their future, but I’d really like to see that drama; and, if they were shown their future together in advance, they just might be fine with it too.
 
As for your main point, well, I might have been trying to bluster out of answering it… (I apologize.)
 
It’s true enough that prince, king, and queen have been used on the show; perhaps Discord was just being Discord when he talked about how Princess Celestia should make him an alicorn princess. (Come to to think of it, with his fake purple horn and wings, perhaps Discord was poking fun at M.A. Larson…) But I’m sure that thousands of years of rule by princesses would have an effect – certainly on the language, and possibly on more than that.

The word prince has been used more than once in the show, and there’s nothing so far that proves a preference for leadership to be on the girly side. Presumably, Discord would still be Equestria’s monarch if he wasn’t such a mischievous jerk.

Apologies (only not really) for reviving this, but: I’m not sure that “Princess Big Macintosh” is just a joke. I think “princess” might be the usual word for “soverign ruler” in Equestrian; I’m pretty sure that that’s how Sunset Shimmer understood the word in Equestria Girls, for one. And horse herds do tend to be more comfortable led by a mare than by a stallion, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the trappings of power in Equestria are invariably girly and frequently pink.
 
 
Flash Sentry wanting to be a little girl would certainly explain a lot. Perhaps he’s completely blasé about everyone around him suddenly being magical rainbow glam-rock ponies because he’d like to be one too, and he actively prefers crazy girlfriends because humoring them is humoring his own feminine side, too. (And I really do think that a girl who would never pull a switchblade when her pizza was late, and never tearily confess in his arms that they could never be together because she was secretly a rainbow unicorn princess from the magical land of ponies, just wouldn’t interest Flash very much.)
