Myself, I don’t really see any proof, and in the past have offered that the award shown is merely that for fantasy or adventure in general with Daring Doo held up as the standard other authors aspire to. Or, another idea, perhaps it was an award given by J.K. Yearlying/Daring Doo to Twilight Velvet for one reason or another.
Myself, I come up with an explanation that allows both the comics and snow to still be used together. Something merely shown in the background should not be used to disprove canonicity, especially without context. Still, this is only my thoughts and I am sure others will disagree.

So for those of you who are throwing a fit over the last episode…well, there.
Yeah but note that it’s a world where at least several sentient species can fly. Obviously at least some traps are designed with those in mind.
And with magic pressureplates are not the only way you can activate a trap.
Magic based laser tripwires or even motion detectore are fair game.
She still has to get to those distant locales. Besides, there’s bound to be at least one book where walking on clouds is an asset. Griffin’s Goblet, perhaps?
I was keeping that in mind too, but it still doesn’t seem completely right
He’s sitting like any regular pony.
Which means,he’s not Lyra.
It’s a fairly logical assumption. If Daring could fly in most of her adventures then the dungeons and traps would become a cakewalk and there wouldn’t be any thrill in such a story. Therefore the writer has to always make sure that she is unable to use her wings prior her next adventure.
Although, in that case you have to ponder why Velvet didn’t make Daring an Earthie in the first place. Sure, we know she has wings only so she could be the perfect incarnation of Rainbow Dash to make her instantly relate herself to Daring, but it doesn’t make sense from the writer’s perspective.
I wasn’t being very serious. Besides, she probably got that consultant after the series took off.
Just one.
ONE.
Assuming the entire series follows the preplanned route consisting of 2 points:
1 - Injure wing.
2 - Advenshur tiem!
Well yeah…
Hahaha,you are kidding,right?
Which, as someone else pointed out, is why she’s always got an injured wing.
Write what you know. Unless Velvet has a pegasus consultant, a third of her readership would be writing in, complaining about the glaring inaccuracies every time Daring took flight.
I’m impressed the comic writers thoroughly research and use every little piece of official info Hasbro provides on the characters.
Occum’s Razor?
How do you know if it’s not Twilights dad dressed up as a girl, or Twilights other future self messing up again?
Yeah, yeah, I know there’s a few steps removed from “Twilight Velvet writes adventure stories” to “Twilight Velvet is an award-winning author of Daring Do”, but importantly the idea is not something pulled out of nowhere here.
OWNED
I’m gonna need more than that.
