I don’t think he made that figurine, just that it was a conveniently-close resemblance to Cadanace for him to drool over.
True, and if not for the expression on Shining Armor’s face I’d agree that this was a moment of fancy.
That look, combined with the fact that he’s already made a Cadance figurine on the next page, really dances the line. Ultimately, it’s just light-hearted goofiness, yet this cynic within me can’t help but have a laugh.
