I think the problem is that Fluttershy trying to be funny already happened in the show, so if she’s good at it she’s out of character and if she’s hilariously bad at it it’s reruns. Not a good situation for the creative types. That said, I would read the hell out of the latter anyway.

That fic used this picture on the cover, but it wasn’t about it. She didn’t even do the clown routine in the story.

Some guy wrote a fic about this and made these two totes gay for each other.
 
Ugh. That was completely uneccessary. You don’t need to be romantically involved with your friend to go and cheer her up when she’s not feeling well.

I think it’s the kindness that radiates from it. This is just so perfectly something Fluttershy would do, letting her desire to be kind to others push her to step outside her comfort zone.
 
This is also hands down one of the most brilliant fanart pieces I’ve seen because it’s basically a self-contained episode. If you know anything about both of these characters, you can’t help but imagine exactly how this would play out as an episode.
