If you’d design this suit as realistic as possible, then the pony engineers would have the astronauts shave their tails.
Realistically an astropony would probably have their tail and mane cut short to fit better, but I could see an argument being made that a tail section for a spacesuit provides extra volume for internal air, and would allow extra area for external storage.
There is a dock. It’s not that big. Tigh the hairs up and save on material and points of failure.
