I think that’s one of the few cases I’d side with the “exec meddling” as I like her better as an earth pony, and as “Pinkie Pie.” Honestly, I think the final “Mane 6” color schemes look better, and more colorful then Faust’s original designs.
 
Same with Rainbow Dash, if she stayed “Fire Fly” (plus I think having 2 main pony characters be the same color is a bit to much) we wouldn’t have “Sonic Rainbooms,” and I kinda like how she made rainbows “cool” again during a time when they were considered “lame.”

That’s cause, originally, Pinkie Pie was going to be a pegasus pony (Surprise) with different colours. However, for god knows what reason, they changed it so that she was an earth pony and gave her the design that we know her today.
