I suppose I like her because it explores an idea I’ve always wondered about: that being, with Alicorns being such powerful beings, what if one of them was evil? I suppose the fact that she can be so goofy also makes her work better to me, as she seems like such a threat to me while also being entertaining to watch.

I suppose it also helps that she’s emotionally abusive towards Misty

Well, to be honest, Opaline and the happenings around her strike me as… lacking in sense. Mostly how she’s meant to be big enough of a threat to justify starving the world of magic, but being so pathetic at the same time. It reminds me of Cozy Glow, who at least used rituals and artefacts to power her plans. And I don’t think Cozy was a particularly well-designed antagonist either.

I think Opaline needs more done to make her into a genuine threat and/or given more background to make us care about what she does. At least Sprout had decades of propagande drilled into his head, wanted to please his mother, had loads of envy for his superior and wanted to prove himself for once, and all the resources of the local megacorp in his corner. I wish they’d done more to give him closure, but alas, they went ahead and introduced Misty instead to have their redemption arc.

I think it’s a pharmacy - pharmacies in Europe often have green crosses on them, and when the world of G5 was built, it seemed to take some inspiration from Europe (which makes sense, as Boulder Media is in Ireland). I mean, the Sprouticus Maximus blatantly has a European license plate.

I suppose both, and both in different ways.

In terms of who’s the better antagonist, I disagree, but in an “I personally disagree but could totally see why you feel the way you do” way. I think that they’re both effective for the story their respective media are trying to tell, with ANG being about the fear of the other, and how it can warp your sensibilities, while MYM is about drilling down into more the animating force behind that division in the first place.

In terms of Opaline’s character arc (not) making sense, that’s one where I can’t even understand your point in the first place. She’s trying to steal magic and rule over the world because as a filly, she was jealous of the attention afforded Celestia and Luna, due to them being connected to the sun and the moon, while she was only connected to fire. Sure, it’s cliche, but it’s also perfectly intelligible.

I’m more intrigued by that store sign, is that a hospital or a video game store?

Opaline stop trying, not even Sprout finds you scary.

Sprout was a better antagonist than Opaline. His arc made at least some sense. She makes less sense than Cozy Glow did.

(Sprout is the only interesting and good character in all of G5 even when he only appears in the background)
