I believe Black Hoof is disgusted and mistakenly felt betrayed that his uncle and two cousins, his fellow Earth Ponies felt sympathy and cared for his little bro who is a Pegasus which he and his father have serious issues against Pegasi Ponies.
Ironically, Black Hoof and Rusty’s uncle/Fireweed and Thistle’s father Winter Rye has serious issues against unicorn Ponies especially magic, meaning Winter Rye would despise his own Earth Pony kind using magic that is Unicorn territory since this point in time of the flashback was before Thistle got her Cutie Mark and she and her father were on still on positive terms before a disagreement cause a strain in relationship between Winter Rye and Thistle.
And since we’ll eventally have a ASL sequel, hope we see the part in the story about Tempest bringing her new adoptive family to Equestria to visit the Mane 6 starting with Ponyville where Thistle and Lullaby are surprised, happy and amazed that every Earth pony, Pegasi, and Unicorn ponies getting along, trusting, respecting and care for one another unlike Thistle and Lullaby’s respective families.
