In that case, it’s justified as magic radiation from megaspells effectively sterilized most life in the wasteland, and what little was left was hindered by the lack of sun. Also, the buildings were overengineered, prepared for a war.
Under normal circumstances, life would recolonize and destroy any sapient construct, like in Prypyat (And that’s a radiation-filled nightmare, as anyone digging trenches could attest).
The soda thing is most likely a “take that!” to the high content of conservants and sugar on them, like Coca Cola.

Could be based on Fallout logic where not only is everything holding up amazingly well for 200+ years of abandonment but people are even drinking soda from back then (and somehow it never runs out).

Couldn’t be that much time since abandonment.
Wooden carts and window frames with enough integrity to know what they are, no trees, totally legible (textile) banner and just minor moss covering the surfaces of outdoor buildings.
Unless whatever cursed Equestria without magic also killed off all life in Canterlot until a couple years ago tops, it cannot be that well preserved.

I’m surprised that nobody so far didn’t consider this is a “new” Canterlot, after all it isn’t rare in history for whole locations to move and it would explain why Canterlot, which was previously protected by mountains, would suddenly need a wall with gate as shown at the first page of the comic.

Her knowing does feel a little like a plot hole. The movie did seem to imply a good chunk of Equestrian history’s been lost by G5.
