Some possible reasons for his using the cup…
He may not quite have his eye/hoof coordination worked out, yet, or some other developmental issue(s).
He may tend to drink too quickly, and the cup helps slow him down.
He may prefer the cup over a glass for some reason.
It’s a funny sight gag.
