That’s what’s always been interesting about her is she has a lot of flaws but none of them are bad enough to make her a bad person. Like, she’s narcissistic and egotistical, but not any worse than Rainbow Dash, and she’s fairly vapid and self-centered but not any worse than Rarity. On the flipside she has plenty of redeeming qualities to her, like she makes an effort to do what she feels is right, she’ll put herself at risk to help others, and apparently has enough self-control that she made an earnest effort to not retaliate against Ponyville until they pushed her so far that her career was ruined. Really, the big reason she ever became an antagonist was purely circumstantial. Honestly, if you gave a brief synopsis of Boast Busters to 10 writers who had no familiarity with the main characters or what happened in that episode, I’d bet 9 of them would paint Trixie as the protagonist :D
 
The big thing that makes me feel she has a real lack of respect for others, is how she never questions her double standard and how it affects others, or really how her actions affect others on the whole. She just expects others to accept it. The blatant double standard of how differently they treated two equally dangerous criminals is completely lost on her: she felt like forgiving Starlight but didn’t feel like forgiving Cozy Glow, and that’s all the reason she needed. The details didn’t matter to her. Same with in School Daze, she reacted to someone telling her “no you can’t do something” with nothing but anger, depression, and ultimately defiance: she never even considered that maybe he was right, or that maybe she was wrong. It’s not that she’s a bad person, she’s always genuinely made an effort to do what she believes is right, but the only time she cares about how her actions affect others is when someone makes her feel bad about herself, like “Cadance” in the wedding episode, or Starlight calling her out for a lack of trust. She makes decisions on a whim, based purely on how she feels at the time, and really doesn’t respect anyone else enough to really care how her decisions are affecting them :P

I don’t know. Trixie seems to be that one stuck-up friend who expects way too much from giving too little. Even after reformation, she’s always been a little egotistical and narcissistic and maybe a bit selfish at times. (She’s also not very bright, as shown in All Bottled Up)
 
But I’m not bad mouthing her. As someone who used to think that way, I know it takes a long time to learn how to lessen your ego and to and understand selflessness. Trixie is a realistic representation of how you can’t change everything bad about yourself overnight, a GOOD representation. Same with Discord, MORESO because he was a straight up villain.  
I could go on but I’d think Ill move on to my nest point.
 

 
I agree AND disagree. Confused? Let me explain: That’s what interests me as character, unlike most “heroes” or “protagonists” Twilight DID grow up without a care in the world. Compared to characters like Spiderman, Batman, Goku, Ect..  
She never had financial trouble, a tragic origin story, or really any motivation to be who she is.
 
I guess the closest comparison I could make is Wiess Schnee from RWBY, and while Twilight did go that route around season 1-3, which is where she developed the most, there were still moments where she was pretty selfless as a pony. Remember she didn’t even WANT to show up Trixie in Boast Busters, but later on she felt compelled to stand up after she inadvertently put Ponyville in danger. She also never felt any ill toward Celestia for making her a princess in the first place without her permission
 
Where I disagree is the fact that after season 4 Twilight is in fact pretty respectful. She always apologizes in situations where she really needed not to, and is pretty humble with her own self-view. Hell, she always believes she could do more. Her biggest character conflict is self doubt, and whenever a problem doesn’t go her way, while she used to be pretty adamant about MAKING things work, she grew to learn understanding how problems form and getting to the heart of them. Twilight has every right to be that snobby, obnoxious, overachiever, and sometimes she is like in Trivia Trot, but overall, the fact that she was raised down this path in life and STILL chose to be the pony who puts others well-being before her own is a unique spin on the trope.
 
Personally I think that Twilight’s “double standard” against Trixie and Discord have more to do with their encounters at such a young age for her. Trixie was the first pony who made Twilight doubt herself, even more than Nightmare Moon. And even after than, she humiliated Twilight, kicked her out, enslaved her friends, and only did so by cheating. Twilight never really wronged Trixie to warrant such behavior, even if the Amulet clouded her judgment. And Discord is an even bigger story, AND in a way still was throughout the series. I mean, REFOMATION wasn’t even a THING until season 3.
 
I definitely think Twi being so young had something to do with her internalized bias toward Trixie and Discord, especially comparing to how she was toward Tempest, who tried to overthrow her kingdom AND turned the princesses to stone, Sunset, who stole her crown, and tried to destroy in a jealous fit of rage, AND ESPECIALLY Starlight, who brainwashed an entire village because she was butthurt about losing a friend, AND to Destroy the UNIVERSE just to spite Twilight for stopping her. All of this happened while Twilight was a grown mare, so she was far more forgiving then she would’ve been in season 3. I also don’t think her “screwing” with Rainbow Dash is any different to how close friends would simply screw with each other. Rainbow Dash has always been an Egghead with an Ego, so I don’t think it even comes close to “double standards” when Twilight’s FAR less familiar with Discord, who ALREADY nearly screwed her over in Princess Twilight, than her long time friend Dash.

Given Celestia’s habit of bottling all her enemies away for a rainy day, this is a legit question.

It’s honestly hard to say how she feels about most characters personally or if she respects them because Trixie for the most part is a pretty reactive character. Like, she typically only does bad things when provoked or with a goal in mind, while the worst thing she ever did unprovoked and of her own free will was become a genuine friend to someone knowing it would mildly irritate someone else. In her first appearance she only started bullying the mane six when they started a fight with her, and she backed off and left them alone once they backed down. In her second appearance she only challenged Twilight to a duel after a year or so of trying to just move on with her life, when her career was ruined, ponies were harassing her, and it was evident the reason was they believed “she’s a fraud compared to Twilight”; challenging Twilight to a magic duel and beating her would (and did) change that and recoup her losses, and all the worse stuff she did like conquering Ponyville was due to the influence of the amulet. She’d have never done neither of those things if the mane six hadn’t started heckling her, or if ponies had let the the whole ursa minor incident go afterward, and on the whole the whole the only time we’ve really seen her just up and disrespect characters for the hell of it was when she treated Snips and Snails poorly in Boast Busters when they were fanboying her after her show :P
 
Ironically I actually think Twilight respects others a lot less than Trixie does. She was born rich and privileged and has always gotten her way, and many times we’ve seen her talk down to others without realizing what she’s saying is disrespectful, or treat others poorly just for basically talking back to her or challenging her or for doing things that inadvertently inconvenience her. Not to mention, she has a real double standard with how she expects to be treated compared to how she treats others, like there’s a lot of times she’ll react very negatively to things done to her and then turn right around and do those exact same things to others; she had no problem screwing with Rainbow Dash to teach her a lesson in 2, 4, 6, Great, but was outraged that Discord screwed with HER to teach her a lesson in What About Discord :P

I doubt either of them even fully understand what the Elements of Harmony are. “Twilight” would only know what Nightmare Moon told her about them, while “Trixie” has probably never even heard of them :P

“Twilight:” They’re six artifacts that you can use to kill, or turn to stone, or send to the moon, or turn someone into a shadow monster and then seal them away in ice…

“Twilight:” No, seriously. You aim them at a problem and hope they do something to solve it, and ‘friendship’ powers them.  
“Trixie:” Why aren’t they the Elements Of Friendship then? Whoever named them should be fired.

I don’t think main timeline Trixie had any respect for Celestia, either. Given how she just decided to take over Ponyville in “Magic Duel” without considering whether Twilight would’ve just gone to Celestia. I’d say she’s lucky she got off so easily.
 
Then Twilight doesn’t really respect her like she does Starlight, and that’s enough punishment as it is.

You gotta remember neither of them have a whole lot of respect for Celestia. “Twilight” because of her undying loyalty to Nightmare Moon, and “Trixie” because as far as she’s concerned they lost the war against the changelings because of Celestia leadership in her timeline. They’re both basically banking on the fact that they’ll be able to stumble ass-backward into victory in this timeline since this time around they have Twilight Sparkle and the Elements of Harmony at their disposal :P

Equestria. “Trixie” of course because changelings destroyed Equestria in her timeline, while “Twilight” might be the enforcer of a dark tyrant but she still defends Equestria; Nightmare Moon might believe in peace and protection through control and superior firepower, but she still believes in peace and protection :P

Not in “Twilight’s” timeline. Say what you want about Nightmare Moon, but when her trusted little enforcer said “that Cadance is evil” she listened. That was a decisive Equestrian victory in about 5 minutes :P
 
I like to think that in this timeline she failed Celestia’s test and got denied because the Sonic Rainboom never happened, and it broke her because Twilight is a character who has never not gotten her way. Then she started hearing a voice that started telling her dark little secrets about magic, that started telling her about a “similar injustice” it suffered 1000 years ago when Celestia denied IT in a similar way, and started grooming her and training her to aid in a little escape in about a decade or so. So since she was influenced from such a young age to embrace ferocity and darkness, she gained an alternate cutie mark and her alicorn form became more batty :D

Yep! “Trixie” appeared in the portal and swiftly fell through the clouds of Cloudsdale to what should have been her death, but “Twilight” saved her. They’ve traveled together ever since and even influenced a few events in the show behind the scenes :D

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me since, even in the main timeline Celestia actually seems to not have a lot of control over the affairs of her country. Whether by choice or inability or both, she tends to basically take a backseat and let groups act on her behalf with very little intervention. Though we don’t actually know what else happened in any of those timelines; we saw the end-game, but even in that episode we saw a lot of little deviations between timelines like Celestia AND Luna defeated by Discord, implying that unlike in the Nightmare Moon timeline Celestia actually was able to defeat and redeem Luna on her own in the Discord timeline. For all we know, in the Flim Flam timeline Celestia and Tirek killed each other in a battle and the brothers were able to take over since it’s like a lawless Mad Max style affair now :D

All they know about this timeline was time and date of the attack. In “Twilight’s” timeline, her brother is a beat cop in Canterlot who is married to Ms. Peachbottom, while in “Trixie’s” timeline Shining Armor was, prior to the takeover, a drummer in a modestly successful band called White Noise with Vinyl Scratch, Lightning Bolt, Rarity, Natalya, and Double Diamond. They had no clue how it was going to play out, so “Trixie” tied a threatening note to a brick and threw it through Celestia’s window and the duo hoped for the best :P

She probably also stopped herself. Even in a timeline not ruled by tyrants or monsters who would have squashed her for being a threat to their rule, without Twilight to protect her she’d have had to face Celestia or Luna instead… and we all know how THEY treat ponies like Starlight :P

I got a question. did starlight stop cozy glow? Cause if she stopped the mane 6 to be friends they wouldn’t have spread friendship everywhere thus cozy glow wouldn’t be able to use friendship as a weapon

We know Flim and Flam are con artists. However we also know that Equestria has faced non-physical threats before.
 
In IDW’s MLP#62 It was revealed that Equestria had a land transaction with Griffonstone long ago. Since there was no receipt, everyone assumed the debt was never paid.
 
However the resulting Inflation over thousands of years meant that the money owed would now bankrupt Modern Equestria, and the sack of shit Griffon Representative demanded Equestria give up half of their land as payment, and kick out anyone living there because it wasn’t there problem
 
Even AFTER they found the receipt, he tried to destroy it “to secure Griffonstone’s future” , even though he only wanted to profit of this himself. He was more concerned with money and power rather than the lives of half of Equestria, even though Princess Celestia begged him for a resolution. Thankfully our Princess of Friendship exposes him with the help of her new friend, Raven
 
Now, given Twilight never became a Princess in this timeline, If we assume that Flim and Flam found themselves in this or a similar situation, they could’ve very well found a way to con or blackmail their way in which they benefit.
 
This makes sense because they DO have connections, as in the novel “Sweetie Drops and the Agents of S.M.I.L.E.” Flim and Flam are revealed they were employed by the same agency Bon Bon was employed by (Even though they were fired after one day)
 
In a way, this is just as evil as the others because this is tearing apart Equestria from within.
 
Like America, Equestria can never be defeated by external forces. Even when they were, they were still others always fighting back. It has to be destroyed from within. We saw example of this in Season 8 and 9.
 
While Cozy Glow focused more on the illusion of friendship, Flim and Flam would’ve likely taken a more political approach bribing or blackmailing or tricking mayors, judges and authority figures one by one, until they found themselves in a suitable position to poison and destroy Equestria slowly and painful for the sake of profit, perhaps even bankrupting it and selling pieces of it in the process, and repeating said process of blackmailing said buyers who were “in on it”, all while the general public assumes that “this is normal” and “everything is fine” as they slowly lose their rights and their standard of living”
