I see dead ponies...
@Ardashir
When I meant by that original reply was that not all the shows in Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera created in the meddling kids mystery genre were truly terrible. Some like the funky phantom and Captain caveman deserve the same iconic status as Scooby-Doo. Some were mediocre, like Speed buggy and some were outright crap like jabberjaw and inch high private eye.

Or Hammerman. Or Rubik, the Amazing Cube, or any of the asinine Scooby-Doo clones HB churned out during the 70’s & 80’s.
I once might have disagreed about Rubik, maybe, before I heard about the episode where the Cube turns one of the kids into a female dog and lets the transformed boy’s male dog start hitting on him. How did that ever make it to TV?
Funky Phantom and Captain Caveman were awesome.
That they were.
And if you want to talk bad animation, you don’t even understand the idea until you’ve seen Clutch Cargo. Shudder

Ah yes the horrors of SynchroVox. The most disturbing animation technique in history.

Not the same BP as who you replied to, but still… I’d heard the acronym before, but forgot.

G.O.A.T. happens to be a nickname for Muhammad Ali, and the title of his autobiography. I’ve only ever heard the term applied to him. (for the record, I’m not a fan of his)

this. just… THIS.
whenever i hear someone on the internet complain that about the state of cartoons today, sometimes i just feel like stopping them and saying “dude… things may not be optimal now, but trust me, generation x had it worse.” i mean yeah, i can kinda see how people would defend this show, but there are some shows from this era that are just plain inexcusable…*cough-laverne and shirley in the army-cough-mork and mindy-cough cough

Fun fact: The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang was not originally meant to be a Happy Days cartoon. Hanna-Barbera had intended to make an animated series based on a popular science-fiction television show, but they couldn’t license the rights. Thus, they quickly retooled it into something they could more easily get the rights to.

And that is why Doctor Who‘s reputation in the United States was not tarnished by this show’s existence.

Time travelling shows were pretty common in that era.

Dinosaurs were popular as hell in the late 80s-90s
