Species/Gender: Zebroid (Earth pony-Zebra)/Female-Nonbinary (She/Them)  
Mark/Talent: Cutie Mark: A stylized head of a Storm Grouse. Stripe Symbol: Six pointed star, the icon of Friendship. Together they represent her ability to connect with birds and other flighted creatures.  
Personality: Very brash and cold with other people from the get-go; always has the base assumtion that strangers don’t like her. Will open up quickly if shown interest in her passions though. Is also suprisingly patient and kind with animals and small children, since “it’s not their fault that they don’t know better” when they bite or scream or cry.  
Important relationships:  
Daring Do/A.K. Yearling (Mother) - Very strained all her life. As a child due to Daring being away very often for long streches of time. And as an adult, due to Daring keeping her alter-ego a secret, making Kinyume believe Daring Do was just a fictional character until she figured it out by herself as a teenager.  
Zecora (Mother) - Better than her relationship with Daring, but still a bit strained due participating in the lie. They were very close when Kinyume was little though.  
Disco Inferno (Best friend) - One of the few people who doesn’t mind her brash nature, and can see through her cold facade. She claims she’s just letting him hang around, but secretly enjoys his company and is very protective of him.
 
History:  
There is a procedure of spells that can take the DNA of two indivuals and basically create a zygote from it, meaning that as long as one of them is able to get pregnant (or they know someone who’d be willing to be pregnant for them) any pair can become biological parents. It takes planning and a long wait-time due to how rare and difficult the process is, so parents have time to prepare properly. But that was not how Kinyume came into existance; instead she came about from the time Zecora was experimenting with potions and a whoopsie happened. Suprise, it’s a pregnancy. Once they realised, they generally just rolled with the punches and had Zecora’s tree grow another room. Though, Daring might have needed some weeks to stop being in denyal first.
 
After Kinyume was born she lived with Zecora in the Everfree forest. Despite some concerns from other ponies, she took to the forest like a duck to water; she knew how to listen for dangerous animals and what to do in case she met one, and she recognized most of the flora and could tell you what it was good for/how fast it could kill you before she could read. The lay of the land of the forest, where all the landmarks and animal territories where, she knew better than the layout of Ponyville even. While she was a child, she wasn’t allowed to do any of this without Zecora though… but lets just say, she got into trouble and got grounded often –all of it had to do with sneaking out of the house.
 
Daring Do tried to spend all her free time at home, but was often called away for “research for her new book” and “meetings with her publisher” that lasted from anywhere between a few days to weeks. As Kinyume got older they drifted apart more and more, as they simply didn’t know each other very well anymore.
 
She went to school in Ponyville, where she shared a class with Disco Inferno, who decided that they were best friends which she just shrugged and went along with. She got her Cutie Mark and Stripe Symbol when she was quite old, being in her late teens at the time, by saving a sick orphaned Greater Storm Grouse-hatchling. She decided to name it Thunder, showing that she did not inherit Daring’s creativity for names. She raised it, and now enjoys the power that comes with having a giant bird able to make storms believe you’re it’s mother and will do anything you ask of it.
 
Not soon after that, she found out that the books her mom wrote shouldn’t be in the fiction category, which had been kept a secret fom her. Daring tried to explain that she had many enemies and was just trying to keep Kinyume safe, but she felt very betrayed and decided to move out. She now lives in a house on the outskirts of Ponyville, which she shares with her bff/roomate Disco –when he’s in town that is. He still pays rent, but only stays the night a few days a month; it’s a pretty sweet deal.

Kinyume’s zebra heritage-such as the stripe symbols- mentioned here is based on my zebra headcanon. Relevant sections for her is the Mountain Zebra (as that is what Zecora is), Stripe Symbols and maybe Foals and Adolescence.  
Used to be able to speak Zecora’s mothertongue (not sure what the language is/should be called) fluently, but is very rusty from not speaking it in everyday life since she was a child.  
Lesbian who does not know how to act around cute mares if they say anything even remotely flirty.  
Can easily come up with rhymes, and sometimes speaks in it to annoy ponies. This isn’t some kind of ability she was born with, but rather just from being raised by Zecora.  
Would very much like to have another manestyle, but cannot get it to do anything but stand straight up. Even when going to professional mane stylists, it goes back into a mohawk-shape after a few hours.  
She identifies as female but also somewhat nonbinary. She does most often use female or genderless pronouns, but she doesn’t really care if someone refers to her as male by accident; she’s pretty comfortable being percieved as any gender. When is comes to dressing up, she’s actually a lot more comfortable looking masculine than feminine –she likes to look handsome rather than pretty. She has a hard time articulating her gender-identity though, so if someone asks she usually just calls herself a nonbinary or genderqueer female.
