But… you’re SUPPOSED to think Mudbriar is awful. Pinkie sure did. And the whole point of the episode was that Pinkie needed to learn that just because she dislikes somepony doesn’t mean everypony does.
 
People who think Mudbriar’s existence was a bad thing for the show are literally the kind of person the episode was teaching then NOT to be.

Agree strongly with the kirins and mudbriar. I don’t think daring do was too bad, not even when she was “brought alive”, and yeah daring do-episodes after that had their flaws, but still. I can think of many episodes which were way more horrible than the daring do ones. Her episodes were never horrible, at least to me.
 
Mudbriar is just… I really don’t have to say anything else than he is mudbriar, you know what he was in the series.
 
I did like gabby a lot when she was first introduced, but I felt disconnected with her in the latter episode where she was a somewhat-main character (I believe it was s9). I felt like she had a clear goal and purpose even though she didn’t get her cutie mark in the first episode. Purpose being the main word here.
 
Overhated sombra is a default setting for all mlp fans. I enjoyed the final season’s slight characterization beyond “roaaar” and “crystals” that they did for him. But all in all the official comics do so much more justice to him and the crystal empire as a whole. But judging him just based on the TV series, yeah, there’s not much good you can say about him, let’s be realistic.

Plus I always figured she looked like Dashie because we were seeing how Dash envisioned her. When they made her real they destroyed that very charming element to her appearance and transformed it into laziness.
 
It also robbed the initial book episode of one of its most thoughtful characterizations in Rainbow Dash. Her imagination.
