I mean the color of the horn itself, not the glow.

Horns used to be the same color as the pony. ~~why back in my day…~~ But between the different color, apparently different material and the ball, I had to ask. I got the impression the ball was there as protection for others and a visual guide. Kinda a “Remember Izzy, your horn makes you this tall.” thing.
