I feel like there might be a better way to accomplish this, but I haven’t found an easier solution just yet!
I need to get back to vectoring in generalYou’re absolutely right. I think I may update the picture in question instead using ‘socks’ like on sunburst, as they’d fit the subject matter much more here.

Create a layer above the leg; make a copy of the whole leg in that layer, and change the colour to be that of the hoof making. Then draw the circle/shape that will mask out the hoof (make sure it bleeds outside the hoof so it doesn’t miss a spot), and put it in the layer and turn on the mask.
