However, if you drop the book it will serve as a distraction, and you can exit at your leisure while bookhorse is focused on the book.

Running would be pointless one way or another considering said Alicorn can restrain you with magic. You would have to deal with the lecture either way. And who knows, it might be interesting.

The lecture will cover the structural inadequacies of a butterfly net for restraining horse anatomy, possible alternatives and the history of trapping unicorns. It will last 3 days. Run.

Of course, you catch bookhorse with a book. I would never have thought of that.

I think the ‘bookhorse’ (Twilight) would be more annoyed at the butterfly net than angry. She would probably give you a stern lecture for attemting to capture her, but she wouldn’t hurt you. No need to run away.

Now time to get one for myself

You may need a bigger net… And something to prevent her from teleporting.

The best way to catch a bookhorse is to take advantage of their nesting instincts.
 
Find a few new releases and lay them in the trap zone. Ideally, add a comfy pillow or two.
 
When inevitably a bookhorse pounces on the results, quietly come from behind and apply ear skritches until bookhorse is dazed and compliant. Optionally, also snuggle next to bookhorse but under no circumstances turn any pages on your own. Bookhorses see such “reading” or “study buddies” as another bookhorse and generally will prefer such company, regarding them as part of the herd regardless of actual shape. Once you spend a bit of time reading, your now-familiar smell will allow you to lead the bookhorse to further forage, ideally with tea and perhaps cookies.
