a poor farmer found this terrifying thing known as פֶסֶל in a nearby canyon a couple thousand years ago.  
פֶסֶל always appears just before a disaster, and this time… it was rain.  
the good holy people did not want to go against God, yet the rain wasn’t abating, so a few desperate souls packed up their carts with offerings to פֶסֶל and set out to make the rain stop.

additional details about this creepy creature:  
פֶסֶל is known as הקדוש among its followers.  
what it actually is is… uncertain. most people believe it is a powerful fallen angel. it does exhibit godly powers, like weather control.  
it may be hard to gleam from a distance, but the white-ish parts of its body are an exoskeleton, and the red parts are its actual body underneath: think of it kind of like a hermit crab.
