Starlight Glimmer started Our Town truly believing in her philosophy that true friendship involved being equal, but as the town started to grow and she became the leader, she started to adore the attention, how these ponies believed anything she said, how she could do anything and they would follow her, she had power. After many years, Starlight went early on one of her “recruiting trips”, to find out why it was always night, and she found out about the new ruler, Nightmare Moon, and how she was looking for skilled unicorns to create a light that could substitute the sun. There was her opportunity, to truly show her talent at magic, maybe even become a close ally of the Queen.
 
So she came back to the village, and somehow convinced everybody that a new era had started for Equestria, that they needed their cutiemarks back, that their thoughts of equality even if they weren’t shown on their bodies, it would be still on their minds, the town was a little confused, but still followed her. She was assigned to Ponyville, and the old villagers of Our Town settled down quickly, but Starlight picked out the most “loyal” ones to stay close to her: Double Diamond, Sugar Belle, Night Glider and Party Favor.
 
So we all know what happens, she meets with Sunburst again, they develop the light source, they develop romantic feelings and have Cosmic, then it all falls down and she starts to stay close to Applejack.
 
This helped her reach more ponies, the Apple Family, and the people of Ponyville. She was very important at that point, and Nightmare Moon granted her the title of Lady, in return, with her manipulative skills, Starlight talked wonders about Nightmare, making the people of Ponyville like her more. Everybody trusted her, she was the kind and skilled unicorn that didn’t let them starve,that made all the farmers work together, she was flawless, Starlight had Ponyville in her hoof. She postulated herself to become the mayor, and almost everybody agreed. She had more power than she ever imagined. She started to make rules and implement her ways in Ponyville.
 
Double Diamond is her right hand, he still follows her blindly, and it’s the one in charge that everyone in Ponyville follows the rules of the mayor, he is known by the citizens as “Cold Hearted”.
 
Nightglider works as the bodyguard of Starlight, Sugar Belle works as her personal assistant and Party Favor works as the one that handles the point of view the citizens have of Starlight, they are very wary of her, and know that her ways aren’t fair for many of the ponies in Ponyville.
