The g4 ponies I felt had definite PPG influence in their designs,and the PPG were partially inspired by anime like Kimba and Astro Boy. So I guess,yeah they have anime influence.
I actually read from an old mlp fan they didn’t like the characterization in g4. They complained about how RD was “a diva,not a tomboy”,and Rarity is supposed to be a princess,Cheerilee isn’t a teacher…blah blah blah. They conveniently didn’t mention Spike who’d been altered significantly a few times before.
Yeah, I remember some complained about that, including G1 MLP fans. One girl complained they “look like mice,” I remember. Some also complained they looked too anime-esque, as some were getting tired of western animation copying anime.

In fact the exact same complaint of them not looking like ponies was used on g4
Yeah, I saw stuff like that too, and history repeats itself.
I’m sure similar dramas will spring up when G5’s pilot movie or series debuts, regardless how it’s handled.
I have seen people doing the same bullshit to pony life I saw people doing to Equestria girls.
I saw someone complaining about filthy riches dollar sign tie and money bag pin despite the tie being on his pony version and the money back being his cutie mark and ever saying it works on ponies but not humans.and now I saw someone complaining about modern technology and pony life even though they have not only an Equestria girls icon but one taken from a short while they were playing video games for YouTube

Then maybe they should pick a character whose personality corresponds better with their opinion.

Probably, she usually doesn’t like epic stuff, except Daring Do.
(It used to be so bad, if anyone said anything positive about EqGirls, they’d get chewed out for “supporting that horrible Monster High rip-off.”)
Frankly, I think I prefer P.L. over EqG now, no offense.
