Ambrosia is the daughter of Big McIntosh and Dumbbell. Big Mac and Dumbbell both agreed that they wanted to seek a surrogate to have their child, given that both of them had very physically demanding jobs that it would difficult to take time away from. While on a friendly outing with Cheerilee, Big Mac casually mentioned that they had been looking for a surrogate, and Cheerilee was more than happy to volunteer, having had no foals of her own and wanting to have that experience. Dumbbell agreed to the arrangement and, soon after, Ambrosia Apple was born. In the present day, Ambrosia is a skilled gardener with a talent for revitalizing wilted plants or plants unable to bear fruit. She’s sweet and loves her family dearly, but she’s got a sharp tongue and doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind.
 
Ambrosia is close with the rest of her family and has a strong bond with her cousins, who she’s fiercely protective of. She’s not super close with Cheerilee; although Ambrosia is aware that they’re biologically related, Cheerilee is mostly just her parents’ friend to her. She has a rivalry (and maybe something more) with Sweet Cream, Cherry Jubilee’s son. Sweet Cream initially showed up at the Apple farm to start a fight or whatever the hell he thought he was going to do, but now he finds himself showing up more to see Ambrosia - not that he’d ever admit it, of course. Ambrosia also finds herself starting to look forward to his visits and their back-and-forth banter. Her best friend is Hestia.
