Description

(i was gonna wait to upload this bc its like super early in america but nah fuck it we do this now)

i really wanted to redesign her a new cutie mark but i kinda struggled and gave up, i hate drawing scooters. or like any kind of. vaguely metal type thing

scootaloo’s childhood wasn’t partiicularly a stable one. Her parents travelled for work, and would leave her in the care of various different caregivers they could.
Eventually, Snap Shutter’s sister, Holly, realised what was going on and insisted that her neice come live with her and her wife permanently, to give her a more stable upbringing.
Though Aunt Holiday and Aunt Loftie were wonderful parents to Scootaloo, her parents neglectful behaviour, and a lack of a stable home in her formative years proved troubling. Fear of being uprooted and moved again at a moments notice created a stubborness in her, and a tendancy to not easily make friends.
Couple this with being born unable to fly, she also has a lot of self esteem issues buried deep inside of her. She masks it a lot, and often when she feels at her lowest she’ll start acting reckless (see joining the washouts). it takes a lot to make her open up and even more for her to admit to her feelings.
ive mentioned before that i dont like the cmc’s cutie marks, and it seems kinda obvious that scootaloo should have her talent be. like. related to scooters? She was likely the first of the trio to get her cutie mark, as ….scootering(?) has always been something she’s been good at and loved to do.
After getting her cutie mark, she started to pursue her talent more and more, and became a professional stunt pony, participationg in equestria wide tournaments, and gaining a fair amount of clout.
At the same time as this, Sweetie Belle’s music career began to take off - and, despite taking very different paths, the two happened to see each other at parties and big events, a lot more than they expected.
Their relationship was, and kinda is, casual… or at least, it was meant to be, until Sweetie Belle found herself unexpectedly pregnant. i talk a bit more about this here so i wont go into it too much right now:

Though Sweetie Belle tried very much to capitalise on the whole ordeal, Scootaloo mostly stayed out of it. She didn’t really like the prospect of being a mother, it was kinda scary, all things considered.
She doesn’t have that much involvement in her son’s life. He remains mostly in the custordy of Sweetie Belle, but more often than not he’s in Ponyville either with Rarity, Rainbow, or Apple Bloom.
Scootaloo’s stubborness and her own insecurities prevent her from truly being there for him. Having not had the best model for parents in her formative years, and a full career on her hooves, she is very unequiped to deal with a foal’s needs. She’ll come around for birthdays, and the occasional visit, but her own emotional issues prevent her from truly developing a relationship with her son.
She has been confronted on this by Rainbow, but her stubborness stops her from really taking it to heart. see here:

Background Pony #3E19
I see Scootaloo as the first of a new breed of pegasus who don’t (or can’t) use their wings for flight but for fast ground propulsion. Like some race cars are built with actual jet engines. And yes that is as dangerous as it sounds, so it might be a very rare breed of pegasus.
