I think the Changelings have at least a rudimentary hivemind, so if contact is lost with one member (like Ocellus) the whole hive is disrupted, or “worried sick”.

Actually, now that I think about it, you’re probably right. Changelings were shown to be born in large broods, and presumably Chrysalis produced all of the eggs, so even if Ocellus isn’t from precisely the same brood as Thorax, they are still siblings (along with every other changeling).
