I just read your comment and was stunned as to how the unnamed writer of the letter you quote takes offense to a simple occurrence in a fictional television series for children. While programming may indeed serve as a source of educating the young of this country, we must not lose sight of the idea that family and school is ultimately what shall influence the coming generations in constructive manners. I, for one, did not derive character as much as enjoyment from television series, though subtleties within them may have admittedly shaped part of my perspective. I hope that writer may take into consideration my deep discontent of his/her level of negativity with regards to a television show that never makes reference to the American Hard Worker through the character concerned and his/her suggestion that this finale in any way negatively portrays it. To me, it is like saying that the nomination of any presidential candidate or the selection of any Cabinet member is an affront to the American worker, and the implications of such sentiment are extremely disconcerting.”
M.A. Larson, to his credit seems to be trying to handle the situation with as much dignity as he can, but at the end of the day this was not his decision either. His job is to try and make lemonade out of lemons, and if the lemons are too bitter for even him to sweeten, then our anger should be at Hasbro, not him.
Hasbro has put the writers of the show in a very unenviable position of basically acting like a PR arm between Hasbro and the adult fanbase, because Hasbro could care less about what we think of their corporate mandates. The writers do care, which is why they are trying so hard to calm us down, but it’s Hasbro’s fault that they’re in this situation to begin with.
I’m starting to get really sick of this fandom. But I still like the show. OH WHAT TO DO?

Most people who get past “You watch a little girls cartoon” probably won’t give a fuck or even know about this.

As a person trying to instill very hard work ethic in my children and find the portrayal of the unicorn character being given a higher position without hard work deeply offensive.
