A fanfic I have never finished included pony Rainbow finding out that human Applejack and Rarity are dating and not being able to easily see pony Applejack and human Applejack as separate people. Or at least if the other Applejack is dating Rarity, her Applejack must share the same feelings.
 
Applejack doesn’t get why she’s so upset, since she sees the human Applejack as just another member of her large extended family.

Here’s how i feel about this ship:  
I personally don’t ship appledash in equestria girls (also because i’m not a huge eg fan) but in mlp i do ship them because of that tension no else have, like they’re literally obsessed with each other.  
We see them but heads a lot in the show, and I like to think that this probably continued well into the future, but each time it happened they grew a little bit closer in a little bit more respect for one another. I imagine such interactions probably became more frequent, and more pleasant and jovial as opposed to strictly competitive. After that, it just kind of naturally took off.
 
And seriously rare and aj are incompatible to me, they can have an interesting relationship sometimes but i don’t see why would an ambitious pony like rare choose to live at sweet apple acres  
I can, on the other hand, see rainbow dash staying there and be there for aj in the dark times (granny smith death) because she’s obviously the most loyal of friends and we could imagine she has matured a lot and isn’t as childish as before. So yes it could work. Any pairing could work if we have enough imagination.

AJ and Dasha did not have any development in the series, it all came down to the fact that they competed in a place. And to build a relationship on the fact that they just stand still or play sports is stupid. There was one moment in the second season when Dasha helped demolish the barn. I have nothing against fan shippings. But making a romantic couple out of characters just because they stand in a place and have a joint activity is bad taste.

aj and dash do not need tender or short or sentimental moments; they have enough to act in a team and as great friends; rivalry and competitiveness is characteristic of both

Most of the series they fought and fought, the only thing that United them is the rivalry. So-so shipping. Better RariJack
