Stars that would be dead for billions of years by the time we see their light would have to be billions of light years away, which would result in their Relative Brightness being way too faint to see with the naked eye, or even our most powerful telescopes.

Stars live for a very long time, good sir. They were here long before we were, and they’ll still be here long after we’re gone.

Literally not true. Some of the stars in the night sky are dead before the light can manage to reach us, but most are still there. Like, the closest stars to Earth (besides Sun) are Proxima Centauri, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, which are all a little over four light years away. So we are seeing them as they looked four years ago. We can be reasonably sure that they are still there now. The same goes for most of the stars you can recognize in the sky. Even the ones that are thousands of light years away are very probably alive, unless they are getting close to supernova.

Of course, this is all true for Earth, We don’t know what stars are in Equestrian universe. I am just clearing a popular misconception here.
