Yeah and the key only worked because he came to consider her a friend after she forgave him immediately for tirek seeing his remorse and came to realize he was tryna be a good friend earlier in his own way by telling her about unlocking the chest. And said events of S9 only happened because he considered her a friend and wanted to help said friend.
Yeah, I think he genuinely trusted Tirek, and such, as he looked genuinely hurt & depressed after the betrayal, realizing what he put his friends through.
