In my experience, “We need to talk later” is always about something that SHOULD be anxiety-inducing.  
Especially coming from the police, or your lawyer, or the police’s lawyer.

That’s how I’d use it.

Uh, what? “I need to talk to you” is a legitimate message if the conversation can’t be done justice by letter/text/email, etc., but they’re not sure when you’ll be available.
 
If anything it’s the opposite of a power play, as it gives the other person the power to determine when the conversation happens (to a degree).

Dear Abby would turn that around back on Twilight so hard her horn would drill through her pillows for a solid week.

Like the artist, I hate vague notes too, mainly because they usually mean the sender has something to say that’s 1. bad and 2. bad enough that he wants to have plausible deniability afterward. But she’s a head of state, jeez. Cut her some slack.

I can hardly wait for Spike to fire-burp the return scroll, which will say:
