Of course something official can be out of character. Or are you going to argue everything the pink Celestia toy says is in character? Or none of the characters in those many comics licensed in magazines around the world hasn’t said or done something the character wouldn’t?

Well, certainly a lot of G4 characters are out of character from their G1/G3 counterpart. I think this tag shouldn’t be used for official material, only fan stuff.
 
If you disagree with the content of the show, then that doesn’t make them out of character, but your idea of what their character is wrong.

It’s all terrible. Even simple fan animations like the In a Nutshell stuff looks 1000x better than this. Just best to ignore it entirely. This just doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned. I’m not watching it, or even downloading it.
