Thank you!:D They’re one of my favorite and best written parent relationships. Even though both her parents are both wonderbolts(and Rainbow Dash for that matter) they both constantly remind her they’re proud of her but she feels inadequate. She does eventually become a wonderbolt via magically-made wings but she does mostly stunt performances and not the heavy duty flying stuff.

And we don’t know that, there are a few mixed couples in MLP and they don’t show traits of the other species. There is a unicorn named Clear Sky and her daughter is a pegasus, she doesn’t show any unicorn traits. But I guess it doesn’t matter given the repeated base use. RD’s grand parents could’ve been a unicorn for all we know lol
 
But regarding Garnet Flare being a unicorn it was inspired by Mr and Ms. Cake having a Pegasus and unicorn babies despite being earth ponies. Garnet is a rarity and was born a reverse Pegasus lol. And yes unfortunate for them, they had to move on the ground which Garnet feels guilty over but they don’t blame her.

I imagine that ponies marrying other races is uncommon, but not necessarily frowned upon. Pegasi are the least likely to marry/breed with the other races, since raising a flying child is much harder when only one parent can fly.

They would certainly support whatever their kid would want to do and insure that they have the ability to be the best at whatever that may be. Though there is one thing i would like to point out and that is while we don’t technically know either Dash or Soarin’s complete family lineage i’d think its safe to assume that both their families are pure blood pegasi especially considering they are both from cloudsdale…. as it’d be pretty terrible and unfortunate to give birth to a non pegasi child while living up in the clouds.  
dont get me wrong you can headcannon it how you like and its very nice.

That’s beautiful! Even if they’re both top Wonderbolts, that doesn’t mean their kid has to be! This really speaks to a lot of parents out there.
