That clarifies it!
The CMC’s supporting casts are more or less randomly distributed, as are a lot of secondary characters, possibly just due to color composition.
But also, since he’s the one to show up on Twilight’s, does that mean he’s the next Element of magic/leader of the group. He does become captain of the guard after all.
Edit: also something I only just realised, he’s the only student to actually speak in the final episode, so that’s a win
