I mean, the show itself contradicts itself from time to time, but that just shows it can’t be perfect, as much as people will debate it. In the end, yeah, it doesn’t disrupt anything and does make people feel better about the show.

As I said in the last line, many play it as fact, and that’s what urks me mainly.
Maybe I’m just a coward for too much debate.
But I’ll admit, that whole “Sombra could be a different Sombra” was an on the spot idea, and it was pretty fun to just throw that around! Makes for an interesting debate, but I always come down to just wanting answers from the MLP staff on SO many questions!

There is nothing wrong with filling plot holes in a fiction especially when said fiction doesn’t disrupt what you came up with. There could be a lot of explanations, and as long as they don’t contradict the show they can be possible, like its possible sombra of season 9 was just a discords creation.

It isn’t necessarily what happened, that’s you connecting your own dots to try to find answers. There’s not enough info from the show to hint otherwise. I’m not much for trying to come up with fanfiction to feel better about a situation that the show doesn’t provide answers to.

Because be honest, you don’t know that Cadence doesn’t have the potential to active the heart fully, you are just digging up something that wasn’t there to begin with. What if Cadence does have the power? I mean, she does have the same heart as a cutie mark, can’t be just destiny. But hey, I don’t want to get into that stuff, because again, people trying so hard to come up with their own stories/excuses to feel better about plot holes the show keeps throwing at them.

I mean, maybe I will just play along as an equal version of “connect the dots” and say:

“Hey, S9 Sombra isn’t the Sombra from season 3-5 and could possibly be a clone! Why? Because season 9 sombra survived the blast of the crystal heart, has a different voice, survived the elements of harmony and has shown to be an incompetent fool that has proven to be dimwitted in cliche situations such as letting the mane 6 go after he clearly could have finished them off. Meanwhile, season 3-5 Sombra has shown competants, doesn’t flinch on rendering enemies useless, has enough brain power to relay traps and tricks that clearly show he actually knows how to beat the enemy. Oh, and gave off none of this personality of ‘cocky, smug richboy’ that cries if he doesn’t get what he wants.”

There, I dug into nothing, and tried to come up with my own “answers” because the show can’t.

Everyone can debate how they see it in their own eyes, but almost all the time it all just ends up being “Who shot first, Han Solo or Greedo” type of scenarios. It’s fans rivalling because they claim they know the answer, but it’s the original source that fails to provide.

I think this is why fans usually end up turning to the staff, to pull information out of them and get answers, because connecting the dots isn’t enough to back up their argument. Getting it from the creators helps justify and satisfy what actually happens in scenes such as these.

I’m one that needs answers from the source itself, not from fans, or else it’s just constant back and forth on how one person views it to another’s.

That’s all I’m saying. People can still connect the dots all they want, but don’t play it like it’s fact. There’s too much contradictions.

When it has the exact same effect as season 3,such as destroying the dark crystals and wiping out all evil around, preeeetty positive was the same. Or did the show enlighten us that it has more than 2 functions, such as keeping away the storm or destroying evil? Nothing further to discuss.

So the heart is more powerful when empowered by a lot of ponies that were supposed to influence it instead of a single princes, big shock. Thats what happened, you can either ignore it or try to see it from a different perspective.

Also….that the crystal heart didn’t affect him in season 9 made no sense, when it kills him in season 3. Some speculate that it’s a “different Sombra.”

In season 3 the crystal ponies powered up the heart, in season 9 it was cadance alone so thats why it was less powerful. I have no problem with either portrayal of sombra, but if its really bothering you, you can go by the theory that when discord brought sombra back he fu@%ed him up a bit. And to be honest, his voice in the english version in season 3 is kinda overrated in my opinion, its menacing but some other languages made it better, same goes for season 3 although the voice is underrated.

I’d like to point out that Sombra was enjoying the mane six’s emotional suffering and fear, that’s why he kept going easy on them like that. He wasn’t simply being arrogant, he was being a sadistic bastard.

yea the start to season 9 with sombra was pretty cool, like how he appeared and everything…but the second he gave that “ONLY ME, MY WAY” attitude you hear from a child not getting candy from their mother at a grocery store…instantly lost interest.

I’m never gonna change it!

I agree! He looked so different from his appereances in season 3 and 5. Sombra created diabolical tricks and illusions with his fear magic to hide he crystal heart and an unstoppable army that caused a long lasting war. In S9 he just left the mane 6 there and practically stood there waiting to be defeated. I recently rewatched the sombra’s door scene and it was so dark it was incredible. However, I did like his dramatic personality in S9, it was funny

As SO many people see it, they just try to connect the dots themselves, and then fight so hard to convince themselves that’s how it went. Because the show definitely wasn’t going to provide anything XD

He shown that he had smarts, a brain. The things he did in season 9 felt like Discord knocked out a few of his brain cells from some of the bewildering things he pulled off. From leaving the 6 despite he could easily just end them in the Tree’s cave, to sitting around as Discord gave a speech to help them. It felt just….way too cliche.

Also….that the crystal heart didn’t affect him in season 9 made no sense, when it kills him in season 3. Some speculate that it’s a “different Sombra.” Too much contradictions from past episodes almost seems evident enough to make it seem like it’s not the same guy. Myself, I’m not really into diving THAT deep into flawed lore. It’s a kid’s show. I can’t argue that. There’s always plot holes, but just gotta watch it for fun. But Sombra in season 9 didn’t feel fun at all…just annoying, and quite honest, a let down.

Also…that voice. Not a fan.

@Amethyst_Crystal
eh, too much annoying traits with season 9’s version compared to season 3’s and 6’s. Though I don’t think Dracula was as much of a pompous richy-boy attitude like how Sombra was in Season 9. I guess there might be a dracula somewhere like that in some form of media? But definitely not like that in the book.
But in the end, everyone has their own opinions of it. I found him pretty annoying, and had too many cliche villain traits and choices that really felt like lazy writing. The episodes pretty conflicting and convoluted to what we established of Sombra in season 3 and 6.

I liked Sombra in S3 and S9, but it seems like almost everyone hates him in at least one of those.
But Sauron-Sombra and Dracula-Sombra are both cool.
