Canaries in coal mines were useful as warning systems for flammable gas buildup because they were subject to sudden death from asphyxiation due to the accumulation of natural gas. They did not succumb to emphysema.

Asbestos and fiberglass have been used in ciggerete filters. There is little to no ingestion of these silicates.

Even if you ate a filter, most of it will pass through with little to no irritation of the intestines.

The body can expel silicate, but it cannot digest it. If fiber glass gets stuck in you epithelial lining it can stay in your body indefinitely.

The Devil’s Advocate response is that for decades prior to 1970, some brands of cigarettes manufactured in the US had asbestos filters. No statistical difference in lung cancer rates, or any other type of cancer, was found between these and other brands.

Is it possible that asbestos miners and asbestos factory workers had high rates of lung cancer–because back when there WERE asbestos miners and asbestos factory workers, more than half of US adults smoked cigarettes, and this statistic was skewed heavily toward blue-collar workers?

Coal miners don’t get “black lung.” There’s no such thing as “black lung.” Some coal miners smoke four packs of unfiltered Camels a day for fifty years and give themselves emphysema.

No organic process can break down silicate. It will accumulate in the lungs and intestines causing nonstop damage.

Mesothelioma is basically an extra layer of skin growing around your lungs because the constant damage.

Crystaline silica can do something similar.

Actually, Depleted Uranium, it’s less toxic than most other heavy metals due to not being soluble in water, it has the density to block most kinds of radiation, and it’s melting point is ridiculously high, though not as high as carbon… Plus, lead has a painfully low melting point and would probably liquefy before she even put it on.
