I’d probably say yeah, “take this as a joke with highly questionable canonical value,” as far as show canon goes, because I kinda have doubts someone who’d suck out like 99.99% of your energy and move onto the next hundred thousand or however many cares about helping anyone “find inner peace”… not to mention the part where he has more than even odds of burning Equestria to the ground, not “conquering it,” as far as Cutie Re-Mark seemed to imply.
Or the part where he went along with helping Cozy’s wasteful magic drain scheme, out of sheer spite for the world.
So anyway, yeah, taking it 100% seriously is just doomed to failure, probably.

Mark Acheson never stopped being Tirek’s voice actor, I believe. While I think his buff voice stopped being ultra-deep, as far as Frenemies and The Summer Sun Setback went, his voice sounded noticeably stronger than his School Raze and The Beginning of the End voice…
In any case, it could be kinda like how Chrysalis lost her original voice effect after S2.

Oh, and whatever happened to Tirek’s old buff voice? Like, the s4 finale gave him the usual old voice, as well as the deeper younger one. Was that the same actor?
Agreed.
As someone who didn’t find the finale to be a total disaster, even I’m gonna take the side that this one seems especially prone to terrible aging. Finding enjoyment out of helping others find inner peace really flies in the face of his canon alleged irredeemability. Taking this as a simple “How do you do, fellow kids?” joke of questionable canonicity might put some at better ease. Ngl, tho, I wanna see Cozy Glow’s Most Evil Q&A Ever Instagram story.
