But how is this so different from AJ being busy on the farm? Rarity having to fill orders? Rainbow Dash being on Wonderbolt duty?

They all already had responsibilities before. Doesn’t mean they didn’t see each other frequently.

And I’m not saying “they ought to hang out all the time”. I’m saying… well;

if you took out travel time, it’d mean Twilight could drop by for a 30 minute lunch break at Sugar Cube Corner. They could have sleepovers at Canterlot Castle and go home in the morning, or vica versa.

If Twilight can stabilize a two-way portal between two universes (EQG), then making a two-way portal between Canterlot Castle and Ponyville should be easy as pie.

Pinkie Pie could drop by the throne room and deliver snacks and give Twilight a hug, even if she’s only there for five minutes.

Sure, Twilight would have a busy schedule (not like she can’t organize it well! and she can delegate.), and so would her friends to some extent - but having the ability to just see each other whenever one of them has time in their schedule, even if, outside their moonly meeting, that sometimes may just be for just 15 minutes… that would make it all better. full

“A Royal Problem” showed Twi can already teleport the distance from Ponyville to Canterlot on a moments notice.

The problem isn’t travel time, but having such responsibilities now that they rarely have time to be together.
