That’s probably why goth culture is a li’l more accepted then emos. Perky/nice/friendly goths DO exist, after all, but in order to be emo, you have to be miserable, or pretend to be, so they’re kinda downers.
As for “sacreligious stuff,” surprisingly alot of christian goths do exist too. They just like darker stuff too, like Tim Burton movies, and such.
(Big Burton fan here BTW.)

From a layman’s point of view: Goths have an interest in dark and controversial stuff like the occult, vampires and sacriligious subjects. Emos are more about depression, suicide and self-harm and romanticizing those negative emotions. Goth music seems more influenced by metal and hardcore. Emo gives more of a punk vibe and gets lambasted for its ‘mainstream’ appeal. Goths dress more extravagantly, with collars, chokers, black leather and lace, and the occasional jewelry. Emos wear more ordinary ‘urban’ things, but it’s all black and bedragled, and with more hair dye and make-up to emphasize sadness. Goths are still capable of joviality and having fun with regular people. Emos whine all the time about how life is hell and woe is them, living middle-class lives with a caring family.
Wannabe is one of those songs that somehow becomes less of an annoyance and more of a guilty pleasure the older I get. Probably because it hearkens back to a time in my life that, while most likely not simpler, certainly felt that way. Nothing like the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia to change one’s opinion of a thing, I guess.
Also, I suddenly want to know what 90s pop tunes the other ponies enjoy.
Well, theyre kinda similar but not really. Like a pegasus vs a unicorn.
I know both wear a lot of black and i guess are both considered “dark”. But that’s where their similarities end. Personally, i like goth better. But I’m not an expert on either, so you’re gonna have to do your own research. Sorry.
I would be.
You must be so proud.

Hence why Maud is the emo friend, while Starlight is the goth friend.

No, there’s too many chains and skulls for an emo.
There’s been a “spice girls” tag for seven years, which has been most of the site’s lifetime.
Well. The Internet is over, guys. Time to pack it in. We’re done here.
If you want to get with me you gotta listen carefully…
Ooooo South Park!
