Description

I don’t normally upload a lot of my own OCs (unless they’re lewd), but I thought I’d put my new bug up here because I’m pretty happy with how she turned out. I don’t have too much planned with her at the moment, but I’ll probably use her in a pony D&D game in the future. If not, I may write a short story or something with her in it.

So, for those of you that like experiencing pure autism first-hand, like myself, here’s a little background information on this buggo:
Synthesis is a hive loyalist that assisted with the Battle for Canterlot several years previous. Her primary task was information gathering in preparation for the invasion. At the hive’s unfortunate defeat in the battle, herself, along with a small group of 6 other Changelings, were thrown a great distance into the horizon, completely separated from their brothers/sisters/Queen. Operating as a small splinter cell from the main hive, the group of drones continued their tasks in hopes of receiving some sort of message from “Mom” that everything was alright and it was safe to return home. One day, however, Syn discovered that the Changelings had… changed. They no longer had their trademark dark carapace… they looked like ponies now. Knowing that Chrysalis would never have accepted such a fate (and having not seen any new ornaments in Celestia’s castle gardens), the group assumes Chrysalis has been banished… or worse. Regardless, they continue their operations in a makeshift hive, gathering information, abducting ponies, and doing all of their other normal Changeling tasks. They hope, perhaps in vain, Chrysalis will one day call to them and they can be reunited with their family.

Vespa, Synthesis’ primary disguise, is a traveling merchant. She hauls around an old trade cart from town to town, not ever really seeming to sell much of her wares between her rounds. Most ponies know her as a kind, friendly face and enjoy chatting with her. She uses her sociability to her group’s advantage, getting all the latest gossip and news from around the world during her travels. While playing up the role of a kind listener, ‘V’ is also known to disappear suddenly and without warning, sometimes even mid-conversation. Simply looking away for a moment buys her enough time to vanish if she’s coordinating some grand scheme with her group. Ponies often remark that her laugh is quite strange… a scratchy, chittering sound completely unlike her smooth, normal voice. She’s able to explain it away as the result of an accident when she was a young filly, but it’s actually because she’s not good at genuinely laughing while mimicking voices; that’s just her normal Changeling laugh breaking through. Fake laughs? She can do those fine all day. Show her some slapstick? Her laugh gains an insect-like quality. Ponies trust her, though, so they just ignore this quirky detail.

While great at teasing information out of ponies with little effort, she does all she can to avoid confrontation. If in danger, she’ll be the first to flee or, if cornered, surrender. A bit of a coward in that regard, but she considers it a personal failure if she didn’t plan well enough to not give herself an out or avoid trouble altogether. She relies on her fellow drones to do any fighting/capturing for her.

Loves to read books and share her knowledge with her hive (or friends). Talks a big game and seems confident, but secretly a coward. Enjoys reading and hearing old tales of adventure, warfare, and romance (often imagining the flavor of such love). Her darkest secret is that she would enjoy a ‘pony life’, but feels an obligation towards helping her fellow drones out and keeping them together.

Aaaand with that, you now have a little bit of what this character is about. Hope my autism was entertaining to someone out there. Anyways, I’m just gonna keep making ponies over here. Until next time, keep it classy, ponefriends.
