This is also why I ponder if copyrights are bullshit or not. If I write something that’s very close to another song without ever hearing it, what then if someone disputes it as “Copyright Infringement” though I literally never heard their recording before? Perhaps I heard the same basis for the song through interpretation, but it’s possible.

Yes. It doesn’t mean the writers did or did not look at this, though. I get ideas for songs without hearing songs from other people who write about the same subject, but it’s more about the audience I intend it for and not “Being Original”.
 
With that being said though, the “Hilarious in Hindsight” tag may apply here. But does it?
