To be fair, they never specifically state whose child that is. Presumably he’s Big Mac and Sugar Belle’s kid. But this is literally all we ever see them them. They don’t even say anything, and the kid is not named. He could be Big Mac and Sugar Belle’s son. On the other hand they could be babysitting Apple Bloom’s or Applejack’s kid. Hell, the way he so lovingly hugs Applejack like that could be considered credence the latter.

From what I remember hearing the comic has something big coming soon. Could refer to the 100th issue getting close or more likely to a Season 10 continuation style thing like what was done with Adventure Time, Buffy/Angel, X-Files etc.

or maybe Winona was already a grandmother or great aunt by dog terms throughout the series as one of the dogs from the same litter she was from had puppies of its own and one of those puppies from that litter then had puppies too
That’s a good point. Maybe pets live longer in Equestria than they do here. Or alternatively, they could be her grandkids or great-grandkids.
