Yeah, the wiggly Flash puppets, and such do look kinda cheap, (and basically makes characters look like paper cut-outs) though sometimes it works with shows like “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” where some of the imaginary characters are supposed to look weird.
Yeah, and kinda format can look good, or bad.
Flash is capable of doing frame by frame hand drawn animation but when people think of flash they usually think of flash puppets and motion tween.
As the phrase goes it’s the artist not the tool I remember the movie next gen on Netflix was animated in blender a free program and it was pretty well made
Well, sense most Flash uses tablets, don’t they kinda count as hand drawn too?
one thing worth mentioning is that people often give a lot of shit to flash and toon boom.of course you can get great stuff animated wanna computer and you can get stuff that was hand drawn and looks like garbage
Beast Wars was pretty early CGI only roughly 1 year after toy story.
Back then you definitely needed a cinematic budget to do 3D properly even now to a certain degree you still need a big budget.3D animation on a TV budget is something that should be approached with caution
The G5 movie will be CGI, the series that comes after will be good ol’ 2D.
At first, I thought his body was missing too from the screencap. But seeing it in motion, you can clearly see his tail and how his body would be hidden behind the drums.
I didn’t see that show honestly, but there’s plenty of good CGI out there, but regardless many fans are against the idea of a CGI MLP, sense some TV shows half-ass it.
This short was pretty good, but I saw some complain about it in the Pony vent thread. (Though, over pretty minor things. Like Pinkie’s voice, or Gummy “not having a body behind the drums.”)
Well as I recall pretty much before the movie everything outside Equestria was pretty much the forbidden land
Of course there are good CGI series. Didn’t you see Beast Wars?

The writers forget too since Equestria is sometimes used in place of “Earth” (“what in Equestria?!”)
One more thing I would like to see if this is testing for g5 then I already have more faith in it than the upcoming SpongeBob spin-off I hope there’s not the case but the idea of it taking place in a camp makes it sound of it’s being made to save money with the CG and not needing to make new models for multiple episodes

Yeah, Equestria is just the Pony kingdom/country, and other places, like the Griffin kingdom, Tirek’s homeland, and such DO exist.
It’s quite interesting how people try to prove that the plant in the show is flat. At one point somebody forgot to Equestria is not the planet
Yeah, or maybe G5 will be CGI.
I know many probably dread that, but surprisingly the 2012 TMNT turned out great, and it was CGI. So CGI shows can be great with effort.

Also I’m just realising that the shot kinda makes it look that pinky wasn’t actually on the planet. Maybe it was cheaper to film on the moon or something

Is kind of a shame because of how common it is(mostly in movies) people think about CG animation is super easy to do which it can be if you’re cutting corners. of course you can do that in any kind of animation
Yeah, they’d have to alter the model, and perhaps stretch it out a bit, so they actually put some effort into a brief visual gag to make it move smoothly.
I also like how she suddenly gets a space helmet. Very Pinkie Pie.
I’m generally not sure if that would be easier in CGI. Well I guess you probably just have to move the neck part of the body but I’m guessing if the model isn’t program properly the textures might look off
