Well, honestly the comics didn’t do much with Tiara & Spoon either, though they did get their own “Friends Forever” issue, before their reformation.
 
Sometimes, the comics do tend to get more freedom then the show when it comes to the secondary cast.

I dunno, since they see (or saw) the comics as a secondary thing, I can imagine that they decided to give this approval after Jim Miller and the show people approached them with ideas for episodes involving DT and Silver Spoon, only to be told “their stories are over”.
 
In the opposite situation, I believe the reason the first season 10 comics are focusing on Zecora and her homeland are because Jeremy Whitley had come up with this idea a while back, but it was always rejected by Hasbro because they didn’t want something as important as that to be potentially contradicted by the show. Obviously that’s no longer a problem.

That doesn’t make sense, because I don’t see why Hasbro would allow something in the comic, but not in the show.
 
And yes, Hasbro reviews the comic book for approval. That’s the case with all licensed comics. (Sega even made the Sonic comics change things they didn’t like.)

Spirit of the Forest part 3 is a love letter to Diamond Tiara, and I love that.

I said right when “Crusaders of the Lost Mark” aired that what I was worried most about was how they’d be able to use the characters of Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon going forward… and four years later, it’s clear my fears were indeed founded.

That’s probably the thing I want the most, for DT to have another episode.
