You can argue about the quality of the comics or canon but if they take place after the last episode then it’s “season 10” in a sense that it takes place after the end.

It’s still IDW, and it’s still does not involve any of the folks from Hasbro Studios or DHX, so…
 
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still official expanded universe, but calling it Season 10 is a bit much, especially considering other cartoon show’s “comic continuations” involve actual show creators, while IDW’s MLP comic does not.

Pretty good description at this point. Boruto ended up pretty darn good, GT…less so.  
We honestly wont know until it releases, but at least it means we have ponies to cover us till the movie.

Basically this is like Dragon Ball GT or Boruto.

By the announcement and interviews with the creators though, it is not a sequel to the comics. It is a continuation to Season 9. Thems the fact, gentlecolts.

The comics are always updating to whatever happens in the show, so that’s why it’s “season 10”.

It did not “switch” from show to comic book. Comics books were a thing since years ago, and so-called “Season 10” is continuation of those comics, not show. It’s just a misleading title.

I am not sure. It seems like G5 is less of a reboot and more of an evolution, as in having the same characters with new designs, and the same themes. When Pokemon did this, you see a mix of old gen and new gen fanwork. Probably, some of us will just slide right I to G5, some of us will enjoy both at the same time, like how we still have alot of fans of the earlier gens, and some of us will be uncomfortable with any transition. Heck, some bronies are unhappy that FiM has switched from a TV series to a comic series with Season 10. Nothing changed but the literal media on that one lol.

After watching G4, I already opened G1 and G3 doors, and played G2 game. So, G5 is a piece of cake.
 
So… do you guys think G4 is gonna be like Harry Potter, with fanfics appearing for decades after it’s end? Or it’s gonna peter out into a small trickle after a few years? I mean, Pokemon Anime (only anime) is not even finished, but it’s clear that it’s past it’s prime (that was in 2000).
