Yeah. It confused me as well (along with the other unicorn with the butterfly wings like from ‘Sonic Rainboom’) until Twilight and Celestia explained that it was so the all-unicorn student body of Celestia’s school can play Buckball fairly against Twilight’s mixed-breed school.

Also, you were sort of close. It’s actually a magic-damping ring made by Celestia for a Buckball match between Twilight’s school and Celestia’s school.

i thought it was possibly a ring from which she got married and she keeps it on or an accessory. Cool headcanon though!
