In an Equestria under the pleasurable but firm dominance of the fairer sex, a mare expresses her control over a stallion by harnessing him with one or more devices of light physical bondage. The restraints advertise to other mares that the stallion is already serving a mistress, and provide the stallion with a constant reminder of her control. There are an endless variety of specialized devices available to the mare for a unicorn, pegasus, or earth pony submissive. Horn rings, muzzles, cuffs, and various wing binds are all common, but the most widely-used device is the traditional collar.
 
Whatever binds are used, they need not impair the stallion severely. By the time a mare claims her prey, she has already brought him to a state of erotic submission, and it is the psychological bondage of seduction that renders him unable to resist. Mares who enjoy tying up their captives, however, can indulge in more vigorous types of binding instruments.
 
Symbols of female dominance abound in the Equestrian environment and reinforce the subservience of stallions at a societal level. Each day, every stallion witnesses other stallions wearing bondage gear. Everyday products, architecture, and even figures of speech reflect the preeminance of the female gender. Even the rising of the Sun and Moon are subtle reminders that the rulers of Equestria are essentially goddesses. The control enjoyed by mares is rarely questioned, and never shaken… Not that any stallion desires to change the situation.
