Depends on what your threshold is. Everything is hated by at least one person.
Is there a art/animation style does not get any hatred?
Could you reword the question? It’s hard to understand what you’re asking.
@northern haste
Funny enough some shows in the “CalArts style” are made by people who didn’t even go to CalArts. Also, I agree. John K’s a really horrible person.
I was made aware of that recently but I got nothing else to call it
Edited
The funny thing is, John K originally coined the term to refer to cartoons that tried (and supposedly failed) to replicate the style of old disney movies, and he included films of the disney renaissance, which he claims are poorly drawn and lack the fundamentals present in older disney movies. But then again, he’s a horrible person, so it doesn’t really matter what he says. Still, I’d imagine the most people who complain about the “carats style” think that 90’s disney movies and their imitators look beautiful.
You are correct. There were even some examples of “Faic” before that as well.

(And I don’t think we can forget the number of times Twilight has made these sort of goofy expressions, like in Lesson Zero.)
I feel like I’m in the middle of this. On the one hand, I do agree with you and think that the characters being very expressive is mostly a good thing. I also find a lot of the “goofy meme faces” as rather funny. They can add on to the humor of some of the scenes.
But on the other hand, I feel some of them can sometimes come off as rather uncanny. That being said, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a “meme face” in season 9 (or a lot of the other seasons) as uncanny as some of the faces that popped up frequently in season 6. This one is probably my least favorite of them:
That being said, if I had to pick between stiff animation that’s always on model vs. animation that’s more fluid and expressive, I’d choose the latter, even if it means sometimes I will have to deal with some weird faces that I may not like once in a while.
@northern haste
I’ve seen that complaint before and I’m honestly not seeing it all too much. Even some of the “CalArts style” shows I’ve seen still have expressive characters and animations.
Come to think of it it isn’t one of the common complaints about modern day cartoons is that they’re not as expressive as they used to be be?
Although that’s usually people over exaggerating the CalArts style
Thank you for asking. It’s nice to hear what Jim Miller thinks about the claims.
@JaggedCarpet
I was asking he about the claims people were making
I guess it depends on whether he thinks meme-bait in the show is a bad thing. I assumed he did. Anyway, I’ve seen people complain about all the new faices in S09, and personally I like them.
Wait, who’s whining? He just asked Jim a question.
