I think something just doesn’t seem to add up about Grogar, in that he seems to have given up on retrieving it (in favor of trying to get some other unspecified “object of power”), when the three of them said they couldn’t get it (not that the bell wasn’t there), instead of say, trying to accompany them for a second attempt. He is more powerful than the three of them combined, and all.

I’m curious if Grogar possibly cast a spell on the bell so that only he can use it, which leads to him discovering their betrayal.
 
Something tells me it might come to that. Like, he was wise to their tricks the whole time. He did say that he doesn’t trust his own subordinates despite him wanting them to work together.
