Enjoying a guilty pleasure doesn’t mean you’re admitting something is bad. It just means you’re enjoying something you know most people for whatever reason think is bad. I used to enjoy The Lord of the Rings as a guilty pleasure. Why? Because back in the 80’s it was considered ‘geek’ stuff. It was the kind of thing that got you excluded from tables at lunch and laughed at. Then in the early 2k’s Peter Jackson came out with the LotR trilogy and suddenly it was OK to be into it. Things can guilty pleasures and then not be. Michael Jackson wasn’t then it turned out he was a pedo. Now I don’t have Thriller on my public Halloween Spotify playlist because I don’t want to encourage people listening to his music in public where it can cause his victims harm.

So yeah-guilty pleasure is a thing.

Imo it wasn’t good. Character-wise Twilight was really out of character and the interactions were forced. The whole episode was. It’s almost as if Hasbro figured since it was the last season they wanted to wring as much advertising value out of it as possible and made them go with an even more blatant tie-in than the D&D/O&O episodes. At least with O&O ot makes sense. The game’s about adventures/they go on adventures. Since when has this game show been a thing? Why wasn’t it mentioned in previous episodes? Add to that all the annoying shipping references and it’s just a mess.

Every season gets one I suppose.

The latter is not more subjective.

This is so incredibly simple that there shouldn’t be a back and forth.

Not liking something does not mean it is bad.

Yeah there is. Cause a person can enjoy an episode despite thinking it’s a bad quality one. One of my guilty pleasures is A Matter of Principals. I hate it because of how much Discord was abused and how twisted and badly-written the plot was, and how stuffed full of cringe it is, but I still find some of the scenes enjoyable to watch, despite the fact I think they’re bad.

Well then, agree to disagree when it comes to the subject of quality being completely subjective. If quality is completely subjective, there’s no such thing as “guilty pleasures,” since the conceit of guilty pleasures is that one personally finds a work enjoyable despite an admission that it is of poor quality.

Yes. In that person’s opinion. If another person likes it, then it’s a good episode in their opinion. I hate Friendship University more than just about anything, in fact I think it’s the worst episode any show has ever brought its audience, but there are people who do like it. That doesn’t mean it’s objectively good or bad, it just means some people like it and some people don’t.

@PurpleWonderPower
Consider: An episode could be structurally sound with rewarding callbacks and subtle foreshadowing that is consistent with the established lore and history of the series and doesn’t hinder the pacing of the episode in any way, but someone could still hate it solely because the episode revolves around a character they hate. Does that suddenly make it a bad episode?

No. There is a massive difference.

If I got served a dish from Gordon Ramsay and didn’t like it that doesn’t make the dish bad. It just means you don’t like it.

Hardly a difference. Saying you don’t like something is literally saying you find it bad. I mean, you guys say it’s good “just because you like it”. A person’s perfectly entitled to say something is good or bad.

So because I’m still enjoying the show and think it’s good, therefore I must be twilighting like crazy, huh?
