I’m pretty sure it’s obvious they’re canonically a couple
I think it’s because this appears like they’re Scoots’s parents and not her aunts. When adults are close to kids like that, that’s the automatic assumption. But dayum, lay off the saltiness and hate ppl!
Remember, they’re a couple in the mind of Mike Vogel only. Take ‘em as you wish. Their romantic relationship wasn’t even implied in the episode.
They could be a couple of crossover OCs for all I care. Look at that happy little Scooty. Who could downvote that happy little Scooty?

In both canons there was a time where they weren’t on permanent residence with Scoot.
The events have been moved around. You could make the argument the book now takes place after The Last Crusade.
They were just on a visit, afterall they left for their home, “Remember, we’re just a few stops from Ponyville if you need us.”, before Scootaloo got the message of her parents return.
Scootaloo: It’s not your quilt we’re sad about, Auntie Lofty. Mom and Dad are back. And they’re making me move to Shire Lanka with them!
Aunt Holiday: Snap and Mane are back? They didn’t tell me that.

No, that’s what they were doing at the beginning of the episode. They lived with her while parents were gone.
At least now.
They didn’t retcon it so much as flip it around. Her aunts live with her while the parents are away.
And actually I don’t remember if Scoots went to their house or they went to Scoots house, in the chapter book. Really though, it’s a minor point. Either way, they’re the ones living with & caring for her on a regular basis. Which is cool.

To bad they retconed the “lives with” part. That is my biggest Problem with the Episode.
In the chapter books. They established that Scoots lives with her aunts while her parents are away, and that only one of them is actually related to her.

It’s an adorable pic. The only reason folks are downvoting it is that some of the show writers are trying to make a kind of sexual political statement with the two characters.
