But is Babs Seed actually a direct part of the Apple Family? One of AJ’s parents is from the Orange family as shown by her cutie mark story (Aunt and Uncle Orange), and there are members of the Orange family that live in Manehatten. Babs might not be an Apple; she might be an Orange.

Exactly. Babs Seed is not a unicorn. Then again Mane-iac’s henchpony, Quick Trim, isn’t a unicorn either, which makes me wonder why they made a fictional Earth Pony a scissors-user.
