Nightmare Star was produced for a friend with very good and fun ideas, the lovely OkapiFeathers, who has a penchant for vibrant and complex characters. Nightmare Star is an official but TCG exclusive version of Celestia who only has one piece of official art (see here: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0697… ). I wanted to make a really complex, accurate version of her without having the piece be super huge and impractical, so we decided on a posable art doll version blinged out with multimedia instead of going full plush, and I had SO MUCH FUN with her. There were so many techniques I got to explore that I’ve never used before - I had a total blast and despite the ridiculous amount of work she took would love to do more similar pieces in the future. This is hands down in my top two favourite pieces I’ve ever made. I think the best thing about her is that she somehow looks maternal and menacing at the same time.
 
Technical details:  
12” tall to the top of the head, minky body (White) with appliqué details and full internal armature, including complex wing armature allowing for detailed posing. Minky hair (Cherry, Mango and Lemon) with airbrushed detailing. The armor is sculpted from oven hardening clay, painted with metallic acrylics with a glossy topcoat, and blinged out with gems and beads. The back armor portion is jointed and flexible.
